About the Artist

I am a photographer, book artist and gardener and have lived and gardened in Tiburon for the last 30 years.

My experiences in the garden influence all of my artwork.  As a ceramic artist and potter for 20 years, I was making small pots that resembled seed pods, or large recirculating water fountains and sculpture for the garden. As a Master Gardener, I wrote gardening articles for the Ark, our local newspaper, and the Marin Independent Journal.

In the mid ‘90s I discovered digital photography and began photographing the flowers, birds, and bugs in my garden. I had fun showing my photographs in a digital slide show to various garden clubs and public libraries.  I served as a member of the San Francisco Botanical Garden Board of Trustees for several years.

I am the author of numerous artist’s books with garden inspired themes. Two of the books include photographs from my garden. My current work involves using flowers and plant material chosen from my garden and scanned on an Epson scanner. I find there is something magical about the beauty of flowers in the way all the potential of the flower is packaged in the bud.  I have tried to reveal those mysterious contents to the viewer by peeling away the outer petals, revealing the interior of the bud, and enlarging the image to allow us to see these hidden treasures.

Recent exhibits have been at the Tiburon/Belvedere Library, San Francisco Botanical Garden Library and Dominican University.   I appreciate your interest in my work and I hope you enjoy perusing my website.
